Santana Moss, Clinton Portis, Jabar Gaffney, and Devin Thomas are 4 players that are/were clients of both Drew Rosenhaus and Pro Sports Financial. Pro Sports Financial is a company ran by Rosenhaus associate Jeff Rubin. The alleged close friend of the agent persuaded players to invest in a bingo casino which was raided and ultimately shutdown. 18 players may have lost as much as 43.6 million dollars due to the failed business venture. But there is nothing to worry about here: The bounced checks were made out to part-timers and the team did have the money needed to pay them. It's just a messy, icky legal thingy.

"The owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers won a reprieve in bankruptcy court Tuesday to maintain day-to-day operations, while Major League Baseball considered seizing control of the cash-strapped ballclub. A person familiar with the league's plans told The Associated Press that MLB "probably" will file a motion to seize the Dodgers, which has been operating under the oversight of a monitor appointed by league commissioner Bud Selig in April. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the situation. Baseball's constitution allows Selig to take control of a team that seeks Chapter 11 protection, but the league first must file a motion seeking termination of the franchise."

"The Dodgers filed for bankruptcy, tweets Richard Sandomir of the New York Times. Bill Shaikin of the L.A. Times tweets that owner Frank McCourt loses the franchise upon filing under MLB rules, but bankruptcy court generally overrides that. This is McCourt's next move as he fights to keep the Dodgers. McCourt's goal appears to be to have his MLB-rejected Fox deal approved in bankruptcy court, based on this Shaikin tweet. Shaikin notes that McCourt says he has $150MM in interim financing to cover the costs of operating the team until then. He'll need almost $30MM to meet the Dodgers' payroll on Thursday. Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets that the union has informed the Dodgers players that they will be paid on time. Shaikin lists McCourt's largest creditors per the bankruptcy petition: Manny Ramirez ($21MM), Andruw Jones ($11MM), Hiroki Kuroda ($4.5MM), and Rafael Furcal ($3.7MM)." McCourt: "Check. Your move."
