NFL Draft Liveblog At The Falcoholic

Obviously this is primarily a college sports weblog, and a Georgia Bulldogs sports weblog at that. That's why, for example, we're so excited about the Georgia Gymdogs fourth consecutive national gymnastics championship.

Kyle has made clear that he's somewhat lukewarm on the NFL. I also prioritize the pro game behind the college game, though I think we both choose our favorite NFL teams based on the percentage of former Georgia Bulldogs on their rosters. In this era of free agency, it is as as good a method as any and better than most.

But if like me you're absolutely delirious for some football during the offseason, you could watch the NFL Draft beginning this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. on ESPN and NFL Network. And while you're doing that, nay, before you even tune in, you should head over to the site of our SBN partner The Falcoholic, where Dave the Falconer is hosting a liveblog of the draft. I'll be there, if for no other reason than to tell all the NFL types what a sleeper Fernando Velasco is. Ya'll come on over!

The Falcons just drafted Matt Ryan
Right before it was announced, Boomer said that, by picking the Boston College quarterback, Atlanta would turn over a new leaf.

Ryan? Leaf? I fear that may have been prophetic.

Seriously, how do you pass on Glenn Dorsey?

This was a bad call by the worst franchise in sports.

Don't look for that streak of consecutive seasons without back-to-back winning records to be broken any time soon.

Horrible pick, but what did we expect?

Totally blown call!

It's as if . . .
. . . the clip from the 1991 draft showing the Falcons picking Brett "Favor" wasn't embarrassing enough!

D.J.
and this doesn't sound like good news for D.J. Shockley either.

Worst franchise
Sorry, but the worst franchise tag is owned by the St. Louis/Arizona Cardinals.

Why not call it
the Chicago/St. Louis/Arizona Cardinals?

Good point . . .
. . . and, since the Chicago Cardinals used the No. 1 pick of the 1947 N.F.L. draft to make Charley Trippi the first Georgia player selected first overall by professional football, I stand by my position that the Falcons are more inept even than they.
