Women's Tennis Team Loses; I Now Cheer for Pac-10

I have bad news and I have good news. I'll give you the bad news first.

The Georgia women's tennis team fell in the quarterfinals of the N.C.A.A. tournament on Sunday night, losing to 10th-ranked California by a 4-1 final. The Bulldogs ended the season with a 24-2 record. The Bears, who improved to 23-6, will face Georgia Tech in the semifinals on Monday night. Go Cal!

The good news is that fourth-ranked Florida was bounced from postseason play, as well. The fourth-ranked Gators were knocked off by U.C.L.A. as the Bruins withstood a Florida rally to win, 4-3. Go U.C.L.A.!

It is unfortunate that Georgia will not be winning a national title in women's tennis, but, on the bright side, at least Florida's season ended in the same round as the Bulldogs'.

Go 'Dawgs!

I was really hoping
that UCLA and Georgia would meet in the finals.  Ah well.

And trust me, UCLA fans are just as happy to beat Florida nowadays.

The men's team soldiered on, though; but they beat UCLA to advance to the semis.
