On This Date In History . . .

Today, February 22, is noteworthy for a number of reasons, representing as it does numerous anniversaries which deserve to be remembered.

On this date in 1732, George Washington was born.

On this date in 1820, the Phi Kappa Literary Society was founded.

On this date in 1862, Jefferson Davis became the president of the permanent government of the Confederate States of America.

Finally, on this date in 2006, Dawg Sports debuted.

In commemoration of the occasion, devoted Dawg Sports reader Kristin Davis spoke glowingly of her favorite Georgia Bulldogs weblog in a recent television interview. (She also cursed like a stevedore, which is why they had to air it on H.B.O.)

Today is not actually my blogiversary, since I spent the previous seven months at Kyle on Football, but it was one year ago today that I began doing business as Dawg Sports here at SportsBlogs Nation. From that date to this, I have published 789 postings while receiving nearly 240,000 visits and over 450,000 page views.

My thanks go out to everyone who takes the time to drop by my little corner of the Dawgosphere. I'm looking forward to even bigger and better things in our second year together here at Dawg Sports.

Go 'Dawgs!

Happy anniversary, Kyle.
Your shortest post of that tenure, I think.

Much obliged
I thank you all for your kind words.

Peter and Paul, I remain as grateful to you both for your assistance and support as I was a year ago, if not more so.

34hawk, I always appreciate your candor and your insight, even when we don't see eye to eye (as we often do not). Thanks for keeping me honest.

Johnny, SMQ, and Jim, I thank you for taking the time to send your good wishes and I hope you all enjoy the privilege and pleasure of blogging about the greatest sport in the world as much as I do.

A little late...
But congrats...and keep up the good work.  I truly enjoy reading your blog and hope that someday soon you will consider "Dawgsports for Dummies" for folks like me who still have trouble with some of those big words.

How 'bout 'em!
