Game Day Open Comment Thread
This is your game day open comment thread. Your impressions of the day's college football action are welcome below. Since the Bulldogs will not be playing today (alas), there is no honorary game day captain.
Paul Westerdawg, who recently and deservedly passed a major milestone for which all of us here at Dawg Sports salute and congratulate him, has your Georgia fan rooting guide. You can also follow the action through the SB Nation family of weblogs at the following team-specific sites:
- Big 12: Missouri v. Oklahoma
- Pac-10: Oregon v. Oregon State, Southern California v. U.C.L.A., and Cal v. . . . oh, nevermind
- S.E.C.: Louisiana State v. Tennessee
Go 'Dawgs!

Bowl Update
One thing that PWD might have forgotten is Troy-FAU.
Right now, FAU is whipping Troy, but the Dogs probably would like Troy to win that game because it could help in the computer rankings so Kansas, LSU, etc. don't jump us in the B(C)S rankings.

SECCG
Tennessee is no exactly setting the world on fire.
It's an interesting game, but basically an anti-climax for the Conference. Still, I hope LSU pulls it out...
Hmm...
Not getting my hopes up, though. Am I?
Pitt 10 WVU 7...
just remember
ummm...
I can't believe it
We will still need help from OU and the polls as there is a lot of anti-UGA talk and LSU & VT could both jump us, but who knows at this point?
OK...
I am drinking beer again...

about the sugar bowl...
Go Huskies!
We'll see tomorrow night . . .
I can't conscientiously argue with that, since L.S.U. won the S.E.C. title, and I certainly wouldn't complain about getting the Trojans in Pasadena.
Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl definitely is the worst B.C.S. scenario for the 'Dawgs.
I don't know, Kyle...
Even Coach Richt pointed out on Sportscenter that it's who the voters think is the #2 team, not who the voters think is the #2 conference champ.
Now do I think that UGA is more deserving of the MNC shot than LSU? No. But I don't think they are less deserving either.

Kyle, no way we make the Rose
That ain't got a snowball's chance in hell of happening.
In good news, Washington's still beating Hawaii 28-14 at the half, so that could easily open the door for a UGA/Clemson Sugar Bowl, which would be kinda' cool. Certainly better than UGA/HAwaii.
But UGA's Rose Bowl chances are officially dead.
My bad
We could still get the Rose Bowl if Oklahoma (which did, after all, beat the No. 1 team in the country last night!) gets in instead of L.S.U.
The worst case scenario remains the most probable: Hawaii came back and scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to beat Washington, so we may get stuck with these Polynesian parvenus by the French quarter. . . .
Please, please, please, please...

Still not Rosy
"When two bowls lose host teams, then the bowl losing the number one team may not select a replacement team from the same Conference as the number two team, unless the bowl losing the number two team consents."
The case for Georgia. . .
Kyle was right about Kansas. He seems to be right about Hawaii. I'm betting he's right about the ascendancy of glory days for Georgia football. Do you think it's just coincidence that on the same day all this has come to pass ESPN unveiled Herschel Walker as the third greatest college football player of all time AND they pointed out that the last time Pitt beat a team ranked No. 2 was when Pitt beat UGA in the 1982 Sugar Bowl?
UGA's on everybody's mind for a reason, baby. Go Dawgs!
Whatever happens....
I was saying last summer that UGA could go to the national championship this year. Admittedly, for the wrong reasons: I thought Bailey and Massaquoi would be unstoppable with a confidant Stafford, and that Kregga-gga would roll over everyone; little did I knowshawn how the season would really turn out...
In any case, a national championship win by Georgia this year would be slightly soured by all the B.C.S. nonsense that's gone on... but we'd prove them all wrong by winning it again next year.
Go dawgs!
