'Dawgs Congratulate Gators . . . with Ulterior Motive
In 1964, Alabama won the national championship. In 1965, Georgia beat the Crimson Tide, 18-17.
In 1981, Clemson won the national championship. In 1982, Georgia beat the Tigers, 13-7.
In 1990, Georgia Tech won a share of the national championship. In 1991, Georgia beat the Yellow Jackets, 18-15.
In 1996, Florida won the national championship. In 1997, Georgia beat the Gators, 37-17.
In 2003, L.S.U. won a share of the national championship. In 2004, Georgia beat the Bayou Bengals, 45-16.
There are exceptions, of course . . . Tennessee won the national title in 1998 and went on to defeat the Bulldogs in 1999, although the Volunteers proceeded to lose five of the following six series meetings to the Red and Black.
However, the fact remains that defending national champions are 1-5 against the 'Dawgs over the course of the last 43 seasons.
Accordingly, my heartfelt congratulations go out to the Florida Gators on their 2006 national championship.
We'll look forward to seeing y'all in Jacksonville in 2007.
Go 'Dawgs!

SEC is the conference
A travesty the idiot coaches didnt rank Georgia in the final poll. Sure, we should have taken care of our business. Maybe it will motivate for next year. Bring on the Cowboys!
PS: Get rid of Fox in college football. That was awful. I forget, did they mention Troy Smith had a tough childhood?

Fox has no business doing Bowls
I think the Alvarez Big 10 broadcast team almost forgot Florida was playing in the game between the shots of Ginn and the constant Troy rehash. Hey, this just in... UF won, it was no fluke. The Big 10 proved they are slow, stout, and inferior. I know I am a SEC homer.

I totally don't get why Tebow succeeds
It became a running joke with my wife and me. Every time he trotted onto the field, I'd turn to Susan and say, "Look, it's Tebow! I bet he's going to run it up the middle."
The one time he ran between the guard and the tackle, it seemed like a breakthrough innovation.
He runs exactly one play. Paul Westerdawg is right . . . he isn't a quarterback, he's a fullback who lines up under center. Why opposing defenses don't stick 11 guys in the box and knock him down when he runs straight ahead is beyond me.

I can't wait
Tebow played what, like 35 downs total? And all he did was run straight ahead! His big accomplishment this year was the amazing invention of throwing the ball whilst jumping.
Uh, hooray.

Good One . . .
I'm with you completely on this point. The frustrating thing is our guys didn't seem to get it either when we played UF. Tebow ran against us six times for thirty-six yards (a 6.0 per carry average) -- he didn't even try to throw it. As much of a blow out as last night's game was, he managed only 3.9 yards per carry against Ohio State (although admittedly he was usually starting from inside OSU's five or so). I sure hope SOMEBODY gets this guy's number next year before ESPN adopts Tebow as their weekly spotlighted "playmaking" mascot a la GT's Calvin Johnson.

I'd love it if Tebow was the next C.J. . . .
Sadly, though, you're right . . . Tim Tebow is successful in his role as a one-trick pony. We'll see how he does when he's the feature back instead of a utility player, though.
Personally, I hope he fails miserably, and not just for the obvious reasons. I'm sick and tired of seeing him jump up and down after every three-yard gain like a Gramatica who just hit a 30-yard field goal in the N.F.L. preseason.
