If you're like me, you've spent the week trying to cram five days' worth of work into four days in the office and there simply isn't time enough to keep on top of it all, but don't worry, 'cause I'm here to help you out a little by rounding up at least a small chunk of everything you need to know. It ain't much, but it'll have to do, so let's get down to business.
Feel free to enjoy a fresh hot cup of steaming black coffee while you peruse. If you can get Sherilyn Fenn to gaze longingly upon your visage while you do so, good for you.
Now that we have wrapped up our recent exchange, Tightwad has introduced his Scheduling Hall of Shame. While we're on the subject of out-of-conference scheduling, I should note the recent headline here at SportsBlogs Nation reading "Zampese in Carolina" . . . which is a good first step, but I really hope the Gamecocks will return the game by playing on the road at Zampia the following season.
From the Alabama perspective, Todd has listed the non-conference opponents he would most like to see the Crimson Tide face, both of the challenging and less challenging variety. For good measure, he also came out against a playoff. (As an aside, though, I should point out that it's "y'all," not "ya'll." It's short for "you all," not "ya will.")
Remember Jeremiah Ransom? Evidently, the Methodist Ninja with the exquisitely Southern name wants a much-deserved apology from the jack-booted thugs who work for a government agency designed to stamp out three things that are legal.
Heck, two of 'em even have Constitutional amendments working for 'em! (Photograph from U.S. House of Representatives.)
I am grateful to MGoBlog for pointing out the fine work being done at Braves & Birds and at Badger Sports in defense of right reason. Well done, gentlemen.
I mentioned this in passing earlier in the week, but it bears repeating that today is Robert E. Lee's 200th birthday.
Happy birthday, General.
Although many have praised him for his vote against the Congressional resolution recognizing the Gators' national championship, I take the view that Jack Kingston embarrassed Bulldog Nation by showing a lack of class. Am I right or am I wrong? You can let me know by voting in the current poll question.
The previous poll question concerned Georgia's prospects for the 2007 football season. Evidently, Bulldog Nation is a confident place these days, as a majority of those voting (55%) foresaw an S.E.C. championship campaign next autumn and an additional 11 per cent predicted an Eastern Division crown but a conference championship game loss.
In addition to the two-thirds of voters who believe the 'Dawgs will make it to the Georgia Dome, there were some naysayers, although most of these (21%) expect a second-place finish in the division. Thereafter, the votes diminished as the Bulldogs' fortunes declined, from third place (4%) to fourth (3%) to fifth (1%) . . . until a stunning five per cent foretold a sixth-place finish in the East. Seriously, if you were one of those voters, leave me a comment and tell me why.
That ought to get your day started right. I hope you have a good weekend and . . . hey! Let's be careful out there. . . .
Go 'Dawgs!
