Around SBN: Jerry Sandusky's Wife Tries To Run A Reporter Over

Georgia 6, Mississippi State 1

There's an old saying in baseball . . . you win some, you lose some, and some are rained out.  Each component of that adage applied to some aspect of my Saturday, whether to Bloggerpalooza or to the G-Day game, each of which I will discuss in detail later.

For now, though, there is actual baseball news to report and, for a change, the news is good.

Mickey Westphal pitched a complete game for the Diamond Dogs in Starkville this afternoon, directing 17 of the last 18 batters he faced to grab some pine as the visiting Georgia squad recorded a 6-1 conference triumph over third-ranked Mississippi State.

Westphal recorded five strikeouts, gave up no bases on balls, and surrendered six singles and one unearned run in nine innings of work.  The result was the Red and Black hurler's third victory of the season and M.S.U.'s first home loss this year.

With the much-needed win, the visiting Bulldogs boosted their ledger to 20-10 overall and 4-7 in S.E.C. play, dropping the hometown Bulldogs to 25-5 with a 6-4 mark against conference competition.

The same two teams meet again tomorrow afternoon in the rubber match of the three-game series.

Go 'Dawgs!
