The recognitions are rolling in in the aftermath of the Gym Dogs' exemplary national championship campaign.  

In the N.C.A.A. individual event finals held in Corvallis, Ore., on Saturday evening, Georgia's Courtney Kupets, the winner of Thursday night's individual all-around championship, tied for first place on the balance beam and the uneven bars, as well as finishing second in the floor exercise.

Also on Saturday, Suzanne Yoculan was recognized by the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches as its Head Coach of the Year.  In 23 seasons at the helm of the Georgia gymnastics program, Coach Yoculan has compiled a career .866 winning percentage, won seven national championships, guided 52 gymnasts to 266 all-American awards, and been named national coach of the year four times.  

Coach Yoculan has been called the Steve Spurrier of women's gymnastics and there may be some truth to that where their personalities are concerned, but, in terms of success on the field, the more accurate comparison is to this guy:  

If Coach Yoculan spent more time leaning against things while wearing a houndstooth hat, the similarities would be uncanny.

Congratulations to the Gym Dogs on the recognition they have received, every bit of which is richly deserved.
