A Reply From Damon Evans

On Sunday, I sent an e-mail to Damon Evans seeking the University of Georgia athletic director's support for a home and home series between the Bulldogs and Michigan.  

On Tuesday, I received the following response:  

"Kyle, thanks for your support regarding my job performance!  It really means a lot.  As far as a home and home with Michigan, I actually think it is a great idea.  In fact we have been in contact with Michigan trying to arrange a series however it has not yet worked out.  I do believe such a series would bring a lot of national exposure.  You should know that we are exploring several BCS schools as future opponents.

I may be The Mayor, but Damon Evans is The Man.  

I take that as an encouraging sign for The Movement, but, even if the Maize and Blue never make the trip to the Classic City, I take this much away from the athletic director's response:  

Damon Evans is a class act and, however much wailing and gnashing of teeth there may have been throughout Bulldog Nation during the clash between Michael Adams and Vince Dooley, we got the right man for the job at the end of the day.  

20 or 25 years from now, if I update the list of the most important days in S.E.C. history, I am confident of two dates that will have to be added:  December 26, 2000, and July 1, 2004.  

Those, respectively, were the days that Mark Richt became the Bulldogs' head coach and Damon Evans became Georgia's athletic director.  

It's great to be a Georgia Bulldog.
