The Dawg Sports Hat Trick?
Is it possible that I will receive everything for which I wished this Christmas?
Earlier this autumn, I called for three things to be changed about the Bulldogs.
First of all, I wanted Matthew Stafford to become the full-time quarterback. Secondly, I wanted Mike Bobo put in charge of the play-calling. Finally, I wanted Willie Martinez replaced as Georgia's defensive coordinator.

Three wishes? That doesn't seem terribly out of line. . . .
Initially, the Red and Black's freshman phenom was installed under center and left there, where he struggled at first before growing into the role in the season's final two outings.
Next, Coach Bobo was given the keys to the sedan last Saturday and he will call the plays again in the bowl game.
Now, evidently, Coach Martinez is one of five candidates for the head coaching vacancy at Florida International.

Asking for a Red Ryder carbine-action air rifle would be pushing it, wouldn't it?
It could be a merry Christmas in Bulldog Nation, after all.
Go 'Dawgs!

Christmas Wishes
1. A new receivers coach who understands that "catching" the ball is just as important as speed and size. Of interest is that of speed, size and catching; catching is the only "skill". Speed and size can be developed by conditioning but catching can only be developed by coaching. Nothing personal Coach Eason, but you have failed miserably.
Two slow guys with hands (Beletnikoff/Largent) and we'd be playing for an SEC Championship and in 2 years every other baby boy born in Ga would be named Mark or Matthew.

Speed, or quickness, can certainly be enhanced with appropriate conditioning. Size, not so much. You are either 6'4" or 5'8" and that can not be coached. Strength is of lesser importance for a receiver, but it too can be developed.
Coach Eason has little to do with the presence, and development, of these attributes amoung Georgia's receivers.
Fortunately for the short slow guys there is another way to create space -- running well conceived routes with good technique. In my opinion Georgia's receivers tend to run sloppy routes, and they too often try to substitute their athleticism for good technique.

I agree
But your comment that "Coach Eason has little to do with the presence, and development, of these attributes amoung Georgia's receivers." completely ignores the clearly coachable aspect of catching the ball.
I would also say that running proper routes is coachable. If it isn't, why have a receivers coach at all. Although, I don't think routes are the problem. These guys are often open and simply do not catch the ball.

Martinez
Also of note - word on the street is Calloway is none to happy about Bobo's pseudo-promotion over him (which isn't in any way complete, and might not be in title next year anwyay). I've continually heard that he'd be up for OL coach at UNC when Butch Davis took over. I've also heard he tried to throw his hat into the Bama ring but it got thrown back out. But apparently UNC is still a possibility (according to a rumor reported by a UGAsports.com staffer today, in any case).
What does any of it mean? Beats me. I'm expecting Calloway to be gone soon, leaving for greener(sic) pastuers. Martinez? I guess we'll have to see how that plays out.
Going to be an interesting off season either way. I keep telling mike over at Braves & Birds that we are going to be quite the Ewing Theory Candidate next year, with alot of OL questions likely getting ignored by most offseason commentators (who will be focused on Stafford, Bobo, and the sexy skill position players).
