Game Day Open Comment Thread
The homecoming game is scheduled to kick off in the early afternoon, providing the Bulldogs with the opportunity to get back to their winning ways and, hopefully, begin fine-tuning their performance on both sides of the ball as the Red and Black prepare to enter a difficult stretch run that includes their annual clashes with Florida, Auburn, and Georgia Tech.
First things first, though. Ere we begin thinking about the Gators, the Plainsmen, or the Yellow Jackets . . . or, for that matter, even next week's opponent, Mississippi State . . . we must concentrate on today's opponent, the Vanderbilt Commodores.

Woohoo!!! I'm first!!!
Oh, and Joey T needs to go back to his place on the punt team.
Look at the bright side
I was duly unimpressed by the sense of urgency exhibited by our players, with the exception of Tony Taylor and Mo Mass.
I think we all knew the loss of Coutu would cost us at least one game, but who expected it to be this game?
Time for a youth movement. Sorry JTIII.
Remember Richt's second season when we were undefeated going in the the Cocktail Party? Well, I think the roles will be reversed here in Urban's second season. All we can be is a spoiler. Of course, we aren't very good, so it will be difficult to spoil much of anything. But a man can dream can't he?
Go with the young guys and see what they are made of. (Sorry to end with a preposition.)

Disgusted
And I'm sorry, but the famously "serene" head coach Mark Richt needs to get in someone's face and do some ass-chewing. And that includes the defensive side of the ball, both coaches and players. Richt made a comment after last week's loss that he was surprised and disappointed that we didn't get more pressure on Ainge. Well, excuse me, but who the (expletive) is the head coach of this team??? Is he just ignoring the defensive game plan entirely or is he involved in that aspect? Anyone could have told him that if you gave Ainge enough time to sit back in the pocket, he would pick you apart. We should have planned for that. But to watch the defense play last week, you would have guessed they had no respect for Ainge and his abilities. Well, he made them pay for that.
And I agree with Hamp and ImaRealist - JoeT needs to sit the rest of the year out. Might as well at this point. We're not going anywhere. If they continue to play like they did today, we may not win another game all year. You might as well turn it over to the future, get them some experience, and see what they can do.
This team is a train wreck, and if Richt doesn't get his head out of the sand and make something happen, it's going to be a very long and uncomfortable season.

Work on the future!
Also, we have some major coaching issues. It has been said before, but we need an O coordinator and a new D. A real O could kick MR when he goes asleep with that "no lose ball" vs. "win ball". The D schemes are awful. Why do our guys just sit on their zones with no rush? We have too much speed to have our guys sitting. When vandy shreds your backfield, you got problems.
Finally, let the youth play! The season isnt over but an SEC slot is very doubtful. We have a lot of talented underclassmen. Coach em up and give em time! JTIII is awful. Functional... maybe, winner NO! I know his Daddy JTII has been a coach for years, but let it go! Put him back on punts. Let MS or JC throw to the young guys.
Wake up MR!

The defense is bad and lacks any real stop-ability. Unless, the other team makes a mistake, we can expect them to drive the field on us. The only positive was that their RB was stopped most of the day (except the TD and a few key 1st downs- Doh!). Coaching and possibly personnel changes are definitely in order.
I heard Munson say that Moses and Johnson had played the whole game until the last drive when they got a breather for a play or so. I'm sure we have some other guys that can play DE, sure they may not be as good as those 2, but I think I would have spotted those guys a little earlier and had them fresher for the last drive of the game.
Speaking of those 2 players, I know they have gotten some hurries and made some crushing tackles, but am I the only person who is disappointed in their sack totals thus far- especially Moses.
JoeT did start off pretty well in this game and has flashes of "pretty goodness", but the reality is that we do need to move on to Stafford or Cox. Stafford looked good, he just needs to make sure that when he hits his receivers in the hands that he doesn't throw it with any velocity, so they can catch it (read: sarcasm).
Our kickoff and kick receiving teams need desperate work. We are giving teams great position and hemming ourselves in way too much.
Finally, it's time for some accountability- if you don't play or can't do your job, you sit. We have too many young and supposedly talented players not to give them a chance.
I know Vandy isn't the pushover they have been, but they also don't regularly have recruiting classes in the top 10 either.
This is pure horse crap and it needs to be fixed now by the coaches and current starters or resolved with personnel changes so that it certainly doesn't happen next year.
