Troy, AL (Sports Network) - Levi Brown threw for 298 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Troy Trojans to a 17-7 win over Western Kentucky in non-conference play at Movie Gallery Veterans Stadium.
Brown, who was guilty of one interception, converted 30-of-46 passing for the Trojans (6-3) as they won for the fourth time in the last five outings.
As for the Hilltoppers (2-8), losers of six straight and seven of the last eight outings, they were led by Brandon Smith who gained 43 yards and scored the lone touchdown for the team on 13 carries. Smith also converted 10-of-22 passing for 56 yards, but was sacked four times and intercepted once.
Brown threw touchdowns in both the first and second quarters, the first a 58- yard effort to Andrew Davis and the second a nine-yard connection with Gerald Tate, giving the home team a 14-0 advantage at the break.
WKU finally got on the board in the third quarter when Smith raced into the end zone on a 20-yard run, capping a 12-play, 94-yard drive.
Barely two minutes later Troy responded with a 34-yard field goal by Sam Glusman to put away the 10-point victory.
Western Kentucky was limited to a mere 216 yards of total offense, converting just 4-of-17 on third down.
