Durham, NC (Sports Network) - Russell Wilson threw for 218 yards and a pair of touchdowns to lead the NC State Wolfpack to a 27-17 victory over the Duke Blue Devils in an ACC bout at Wallace Wade Stadium.
Jamelle Eugene ran for 92 yards on just 11 carries in the NC State (3-6, 1-4 ACC) victory, while Jarvis Williams grabbed two passes for 69 yards and a touchdown for the Wolfpack.
Thaddeus Lewis completed 37-of-52 for 317 yards and two scores to lead Duke (4-5, 1-4) in the losing effort, while Eron Riley hauled in nine passes for 89 yards. Jay Hollingsworth added seven catches for 80 yards and a score for the Blue Devils.
A 22-yard field goal from Josh Czajkowski early in the first period of play gave the Wolfpack a 3-0 lead.
Duke responded with a 29-yard kick from Nick Maggio late in the frame.
But J.C. Neal returned the ensuing kickoff back 89 yards for a touchdown to give NC State a 10-3 advantage.
Wilson extended the Wolfpack lead midway through the second quarter with a two-yard toss to Anthony Hill, capping a 12-play, 89-yard drive.
Duke responded just minutes later as Lewis connected with Brett Huffman on a 26-yard strike.
A 32-yard pass from Wilson to Williams late in the period gave NC State a 24-10 lead heading into the break.
The Wolfpack extended their lead to 27-10 late in the third quarter with a 32- yard field goal by Czajkowski.
A four-yard TD pass from Lewis to Hollingsworth late in the fourth accounted for the final score of the contest.
NC State converted just 2-of-10 on third down and ran 21 fewer offensive plays, yet still managed to record the 10-point triumph on the road nonetheless.
