Game Day Open Comment Threads
Georgia Bulldogs SEC Baseball Tournament Game Night Open Comment Thread
At 5:30 p.m. Eastern, it will be time for the Diamond Dogs' last second SEC baseball tournament game in Hoover, which airs on CSS (for you cable subscribers) and on Channel 210 (for you DirecTV satellite subscribers). If you're on Dish Network, danged if I know where you can find the game.
Anyway, Georgia is playing Auburn, and there is other news, as well, since Danna Durante officially has been hired to restore the Gym Dogs to their proper stature, and since Georgia ranks second (overall, and in men's and women's sports) in the SEC all-sports competition. There's plenty to talk about, so dive in and join in the conversation!

Saturday Champions League Final/Preakness Stakes Open Comment Thread
Or, in other words, "Open Comment Thread for Sports that Kyle Doesn't Like."
Don't get me wrong... there are Georgia sports today. Baseball is wrapping up their series with Alabama, and there is a veritable cornucopia of NCAA postseason competitions today in Athens, with the softball, tennis, and golf teams all taking the field of play in the Classic City.
But for the soccer world, today is the conclusion to the most prestigious club competition in the world... the UEFA Champions League. Coverage starts at 2:00 Eastern on the Fox Network (yes, that's the "real" Fox, not Fox Soccer Channel, so pretty much everybody should be able to get it). The contenders in this match are Chelsea and Bayern Munich... so let's all start learning soccer chants in German, y'all! (I suspect "Chelski" is unchanged when translated.)
The UEFA Champions League also has the benefit of having the most elegant, beautiful anthem in all of the sports world. Only "Glory, Glory" is better, and only because it's Georgia. Just take a listen:
The lyrics are in English, French, and German, and can be located here. It's also worth noting that the tune is an adaptation of Zadok the Priest, one of the anthems composed by Handel that has been played at the coronation of English monarchs for centuries.
There's also some horse race today that, I'm told, will probably confirm the fact that we will not have a Triple Crown winner in 2012.
So whether you're watching soccer, horseys, or following the Dawgs via the internet or radio, join us for a little Saturday sports discussion in the thread below!
Georgia Bulldogs All-Day All-Sports Comment Thread
We noted here yesterday that this is a busy weekend in Bulldog Nation, which warrants having open comment threads throughout the next few days. Here are some of the events we will be tracking:
Georgia Bulldogs All-Day All-Sports Open Comment Thread
As football fans first and foremost, we in Bulldog Nation tend to think of this as the offseason, but the close of the academic year is a busy time for Georgia sports teams. Accordingly, we plan to run open comment threads here throughout the next several days. Here are some of the events we will be tracking:
Easter Sunday, Go Bubba Go! Masters Open Thread.
If there is a golf heaven, it would have to be Augusta, so I would like to think that although this is the holiest and most important of holy days in Christianity, it can't be a sin to root for Bubba Watson at Augusta National this Sunday afternoon. We'll just leave up this thread through the evening for your well wishes, Happy Easters and a la carte comments. (I just used some French for NCT). There's an interesting fan shot about Herschel working with the troops and Kyle has several baseball posts up, not to mention the Gym Dawgs have scored a decent 197.1 to win their regional and move on to the Nationals.
For me, I am enjoying Easter dinner at IHOP to be followed with some errands and then a a lazy golf watching afternoon. Please feel free to leave a comment of your weekend's activities, your thoughts on UGA Baseball and Gym, and whom you are rooting for at Augusta (if not Bubba, you're on the wrong thread).
Happy Easter Y'all. God Bless.
UPDATE: It's ok for non DS staff to drop by!
UPDATE 2: It's ok, I'll just rename it "my own little thread, bless his heart".
Sat Night Final Four and Free Form Venting Thread
With yesterday's Free Form Friday post generating such attention, I thought maybe we could have another one to carry us through the weekend. In current events, we have two NCAA Final Four games tonight with the first about to get underway with the Kentucky Wildcats vs the Louisville Cardinals, and later on tonight the Ohio State Buckeyes vs the Kansas Jayhawks. Today in Athens we had a strong UGA football scrimmage with Hutson Mason completing two TDs to Jay Rome, and we just found out defensive back Marc Deas is transferring out for personal reasons, leaving us well short on scholarship limit at this time. I may try and find a spot tonight myself to watch KU fans here in south Kansas go crazy and wonder what it would be like to have that back in Georgia with a UGA Final Four which is pretty unlikely to happen in my lifetime. The Mayor, T Kyle King will likely have a baseball double header wrap up tonight. I just used the word tonight a few too many times.
To help get you started, I just ate two Chick Fil A sandwiches to help my UGA sports depression. I think I may go back and get a milkshake. Also make sure you check out vineyarddawgs creative posts below as well as Kyle's Coach Richt historical breakdown, and feel free to bring out anything from music to super heroes.
UPDATE 2: T Kyle King has posted a Bulldogs Baseball round up right below this post (well, right below the ad below this post), with a Lacrosse roundup below that. We wanted to keep this live thread up top for the evening so SOMEBODY (please) come come by and rant about something.
Super Bowl Sunday Open Thread !
You know what today is? It's the most watched event in the world or something like that. The Super Bowl has moved beyond super and on to mega super incredible. I am sure they will screw up the national anthem somehow. In the meantime, UGA has won at lacrosse, equestrian, and tennis this weekend. And we always have a fine golf team. So, if you think your Daddy's UGA was some country school, you were right, just perhaps more country club.
So, what are your plans today? I think late reporting on Monday should be part of the Super Bowl, I mean, who wants to get up tomorrow morning early anyhow? Please share your day, your party plans and your food and drink recipes in the comments. I mean, not celebrating the Super Bowl is not bleeding your red, white, and blue!
And I am serious about the food and drinks - I have a friend on facebook that just posted a picture of some Cornish hen kabobs that are just blowing my mind. It's also a Game of Thrones marathon on HBO. Whatever your day is, please feel free to share.
Georgia Bulldogs v. Tennessee Volunteers Basketball Game Night Open Comment Thread
Mark Fox's Georgia Bulldogs come into tonight's contest off of a solid performance against the Vanderbilt Commodores, yet they remain winless in SEC play and desperately need a victory over the Tennessee Volunteers if they hope to receive any kind of postseason tournament invitation. Besides, it's a conference game against an orange-clad rival, which is reason enough to want the Hoop Dogs to succeed.
The game is on the SEC Network. The comment thread is below.
