It seems as though the UGA Hockey Foundation is trying to get the word out and gauging interest in a possible ice rink in Athens near campus. Thought I'd help spread the word...pass it on! Go Ice Dawgs!
Junior tennis player Kate Fuller was recently awarded the Southeast Region Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award. In short, Kate is being acknowledged for her outstanding achievements and leadership both on and off the court. She joins former Bulldog women's tennis great Cameron Ellis (2011) as UGA's second recipient of this honor. Please join me in congratulating Kate Fuller on this remarkable award. Oh, and if you can, tune in Friday at 1 as the Dawgs take on Clemson in the NCAA Round of 16 in Champaign, Illinois.
Mike and Anthony are joined by Kit from Dawgsports.com to discuss first-round pick Alec Ogletree.
ESPN's OTL will be showing a segment on Kolton Houston's fight to become eligible and his struggle with the NCAA's rules preventing him from taking the field. TUNE IN SUNDAY MAY 12th, 9am (or set your DVRs).
Finally, one of the worst kept secrets is out of the bag. The SEC and ESPN have partnered up to create the SEC Network. "The network will televise approximately 45 SEC football games, more than 100 men’s basketball games, 60 women’s basketball games, 75 baseball games, and events from across the SEC’s 21 sports annually."
The Steeler fans are just as excited to have JJ on their team as we were. How blessed he is to be a part of such a great organization.
Seven Georgia defensive players were drafted in all, including first-round linebackers Jarvis Jones (Pittsburgh) and Alec Ogletree (St. Louis) and third-round selections in nose guard John Jenkins (New Orleans) and safety Shawn Williams (Cincinnati). "I know we’ve got guys on our defense that are phenomenal," King said. "For me to be a guy on our offense that made it to the league and got drafted, it’s pretty good." Nose guard Kwame Geathers, who left after his redshirt junior season, went undrafted, though he will sign as a free agent with San Diego, according to a tweet from Georgia’s official Twitter account. Cornerback Branden Smith said via text he will sign with Tampa Bay. Receiver Marlon Brown (Houston), defensive end Abry Jones (Jacksonville) and linebackers Christian Robinson (St. Louis) and Mike Gilliard (St. Louis) tweeted they would sign as free agents.Onlineathens.com
I think it is sad how an accusation can change the course of a young man's life. Hopefully he will choose to take advantage of what are still good opportunities before they are gone.
