Before I get down to business, I would be remiss if I did not direct your attention to the fact that the 2007 College Football Blogger Award presentations are scheduled to begin this morning at Every Day Should Be Saturday. Ordinarily, Dawg Sports would be among the presenters, but, because of personal obligations of mine (more about which later in the week), I have bowed out this year. Nevertheless, I would encourage you to follow the announcements throughout the day, as some truly deserving weblogs will be recognized for their fine work.

Now, to the matter at hand. After covering the Diamond Dogs' three-game series with two-time defending national champion Oregon State this weekend, I'll be getting to the Gym Dogs' victory over Arkansas forthwith. In the meantime, though, there are other Georgia sports with which you will want to get caught up before spring football practice begins tomorrow, and these are they:

• On the links, the top-ranked Bulldog men's golf team claimed a third-place finish in the Puerto Rico Classic. On the distaff side, the tenth-ranked women's golf team finished seventh at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
• The second-ranked Georgia women's tennis team won all six singles matches to claim a 6-1 victory over Ole Miss and improve to 9-1 on the year. Meanwhile, the third-ranked Bulldog men's tennis team ran its record to 10-1 by defeating the fourth-ranked Rebels.
• In track and field, after the Red and Black finished the first full day of competition in third place at the S.E.C. Indoor Championships, Georgia's Justin Gaymon set a school record in the 400-meter dash.
• Finally, the Bulldogs won the Georgia Softball Classic tournament title and the underappreciated Red and Black swimming and diving team is assured of sending at least 17 swimmers to the N.C.A.A. Championship.

Oh, by the way . . . happy birthday, Herschel.
