Game Day Open Comment Thread and Honorary Game Captain

Saturday is upon us once more, so the time has come to put up the weekly game day open comment thread. Your reflections, ruminations, and visceral reactions to today's college football action go in the comments below.

It also is time to name this week's Dawg Sports honorary game captain. I thought about going with Kirby Moore, Pat Hodgson, and Bob Taylor, who combined for the game-winning 73-yard flea-flicker touchdown that gave Georgia an 18-17 win over Alabama in 1965, but that controversial Bulldog victory occurred between the hedges, so I decided instead to go with Thomas Davis.

In a hard-fought classic S.E.C. battle that went down to the wire, Georgia saw a 24-12 lead in Bryant-Denny Stadium dissolve on October 5, 2002, when the Crimson Tide came back to claim a 25-24 lead. The 'Dawgs marched down the field and tacked on a Billy Bennett field goal to reclaim a 27-25 advantage. The game was finally over when Thomas Davis intercepted Brodie Croyle's final pass to seal the deal and give the Bulldogs their first win ever in Tuscaloosa.

Here's hoping history repeats itself tonight.

Go 'Dawgs!

Early games
We have lovely parting gifts for: GT & Louisville (to the 'Cuse? at home, no less).
Big 12 = OU and the Pretenders. It's just a matter of time before Mizzou is exposed also.

prevent
This prevent defense before the half allowing them to move down the sideline is HORSE $H!T. I know the penalty hurt us but we could have shut them out 10-0 in the first and had the momentum. Other than that, the team has played pretty good and Bama has played pretty stupid... not running on 4th, etc.

And Thomas Brown
... came up one yard short on the last offensive play for the dawgs in the first half.  One more yard would have meant moving the chains, possibly adding points to extend the lead, and certainly preventing Alabama from scoring to close the first half.

I sure wish the Dawgs had a running back who could get that yard.  Oh wait, they do.

half time
I am even more ticked off now that I think about it- we didn't have the sideline routes stopped and didn't have the deep middle route covered (JPW missed his receivers). So what were we covering?!

optimistic
Their shallow defense will wear out.  We've kept them on the field twice as long as ours.

Knowshon is ridonkulous
KM just stretched for the 1st down at the end of the third quarter. That's special stuff right there. We need points(7) from this drive.
If I had my way, I'd give a coconut to everyone.

great win
great win in Tuscaloosa against a great Bama team.

make sure you hear the radio call of the Stafford to Henderson catch.  It wasn't Munson, but it was still a great call.

Howard and Zeier
The entire radio broadcast is archived on Georgiadogs.com in the "GXtra" stuff.  Overtime begins at about 06:30 into the broadcast.  Our possession starts about 06:34.

That's one way to hear the call.  I reckon somebody will put it up on Youtube at some point.

How 'bout them Dogs!
Whew! What a nerve-racking game! Glad we won a game we should have won, despite our best efforts to keep Bama in it.
Huge win to get us back on track.
And Moreno is a FREAK!

"Great" finish, but not great
Thrilling victory, but it shouldn't have come down to that.  I hate to be negative, but we gave up some big plays late to an offense our defense had dominated right up until it counted most and WE KEEP DROPPING CATCHABLE PASSES (I'm looking at you #86).  We should have won this thing running away and I really wished we had.  It would have been nice to show Florida and Kentucky a decisive victory on a day the former struggled in Oxford and the latter slugged it out in Fayetteville.
