Tuesday Morning Quick Hits

Here is some (though by no means all) of what has been going on lately that deserves your notice:  

• Even I thought my defense of the Houston Texans was a bit extreme . . . until The Realist backed me up with his own explanation of the logic behind the No. 1 pick.  
• Our buddies over at Burnt Orange Nation have wrapped up their N.F.L. draft coverage and declared the opening of Dorf Week, for which the rules are pretty straightforward.  

The geocentric theory says the earth is the center of the universe . . . the heliocentric theory says the sun is the center of the universe . . . and, over at Burnt Orange Nation, they propound the Vincecentric theory, which is pretty self-explanatory.

• Doug Gillett invites a copyright infringement lawsuit to provide you with N.F.L. jerseys coming soon to a retailer near you.  
• I really did reshuffle the entire college football universe in a week.  Meanwhile, L.D. was in Boston, taking some nice pictures.  I suspect he spent his time more wisely than did I.  

Any reference to Boston must be accompanied by a picture of the bar they used as the basis for "Cheers."

• Every Day Should Be Saturday recently published its 2,000th posting, which reminded me to go back and check my math . . . and, sure enough, I recently published my 200th posting here at Dawg Sports.  Since I'm only about 10 per cent as good as Orson Swindle, it stands to reason that I'd only have published 10 per cent as many postings, so it all works out in the end.  
• Speaking of going back and checking the math, The M Zone has determined that we have just passed the halfway point of the college football offseason, so it's all downhill from here.  
• Reportedly, the feeling is back in South Bend, thanks to a grainy photograph of the spiky-haired silhouette of a 17-year-old from a family of self-serving underachievers who made an entrance so egotistical it would've made Donald Trump blush.  No, really.  

It's unfair to call Jimmy Clausen the next Ron Powlus.  To me, he looks more like the next Chris Simms.

• Not only was there a good draft synopsis posted by the Sunday Morning Quarterback (who also noted that the 2003 national championship controversy simply will not die), there was also a fine summary of the N.F.L.'s selection weekend in the diaries to your right, so be sure to give them a look.  
• Finally, in an item related to nothing, Paul Westerdawg's father likes big butts . . . and I cannot lie.
