Georgia enters an afternoon road tilt with the Tennessee Volunteers in desperate need of a victory. Mark Fox's team enters action today losers of three in a row, including five in a row in the SEC. Seriously, they have not won a conference basketball game since the last presidential administration.
Those losses have, especially of late, been close affairs against really strong competition. but there is a real sense among Bulldog fans that this season, which opened with Georgia relying on a veteran lineup of players who received significant preseason award attention, has turned into a dud. The Athenians have effectively playedthemselves off the NCAA tournament bubble before Valentine's Day, which is never a good thing. Now it's a question of how bad things can get.
The Vols, 14-10 overall and 6-5 in conference are certainly beatable. Probably the most beatable team Georgia has faced since their last win against Texas. A victory over the Creamsicle Crowd won't improve Georgia’s standing significantly. But a loss has the potential to make an already ugly season that much uglier. Tip time is 4:00 pm eastern on ESPNU.
