Bulldogs in Beantown: FedEx Cup continues (like you really care)

For those of you with spare time away from college football, or those who get caught up with chores on Sunday, or those of you who want something to do Sunday and Monday, we have former Bulldogs playing professiona golf. In Boston. On Labor Day. Which doesn't happen often.

The 2nd leg of the FedEx Cup is at TPC Boston, and goes by the name Deutsche Bank Championship (banks and financial institutions like to name stadiums and golf tournaments). We have seven Bulldogs competing in the 100 man field (last week was 120, this week top 100, next week top 70). This tournament starts late and ends late... in the week that is. They only play in daylight, but it starts today and finishes up Monday on Labor Day. So if you're in front of your TV and not at work Monday afternoon, you can see how we fare against the top golfers in the world. Big moneyand possible Ryder Cup picks are at stake.

Russell Henley is #62. So he needs a good showing to get into next week. He's -3 thru 6 right now.
Erik Compton is #50 - he improved his position based on last week, but needs another decent finish. He's +1 thru 6.
Brian Harman is #27 - if he makes the cut he advances next week. +2 thru 4 holes.
Harris English is #25 - also needs to at least make the cut. Playing this afternoon.
Brendon Todd is #18 - he probably advances unless the ones ahead of him miss the cut and the ones immediately behind win and fill the Top 10. Playing after lunch.
Chris Kirk is #17 - see: Todd above. Also playing after lunch.
Bubba Watson is #5, has slipped from #1 over the last month, but is likely assured of next week and the Top 30 in the Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta. He also already qualified for the Ryder Cup team. Playing in the 3rd to last group late.

Next week will be the Top 70 in the points standings and no cut, so one bad round next week doesn't kill you - but it does this week. We need some finishes in the top 30 and top 10 to get more UGA in the ATL in 2 weeks.

So when Jessee Palmer's hair, erstwhile beard and clip on ties make you sick, look to golf coverage every afternoon through Monday (Fri/Sat on Golf Channel, Sunday/Monday on NBC). And as always, GO DAWGS!!!
