NCAA Tennis Tourney – MTEN Dawgs Fall in Round of 16

UGA’s men’s tennis team fell 4-2 to UNC in the NCAA round of 16 in Athens on Friday. A few "fan’s notes":

  1. Beautiful weather. An unbelievable crowd at the Dan. Lots of noise. Battles on every court. But for the final score, really could not ask for more.

  2. The turning point of the day? Near the end of first sets in singles, I think. Dawgs had dropped a closely contested doubles point. But we came out roaring in singles – quickly up 1 or more breaks in 5 first sets. But credit the Tar Heels for getting up off the mat – and taking 3 of those 5 first sets. Dawgs never stopped fighting (they never do), but I think the momentum shifted there.

  3. Despite the tough loss, another great year for Manny’s boys. This program continues to focus on all the right things (maybe I’ll write more on that one day), and I just enjoy being there to witness it.

  4. Men’s quarterfinals are now set: USC-Texas, Baylor-UVA (go hoos), Ohio State-UCLA, and UNC-Oklahoma. All on Sunday at the DMTC.

  5. As discussed in other posts, WTEN Dawgs had an epic win Thursday night against USC. Headed out to see them in the quarters today at 4 against the Gators.

  6. Stacey and I continue to have a great tourney week. Great action on the courts, but also great just to be outside, enjoy the weather, meet with friends, chat with players, their families, coaches, even the AD. Good stuff all around.

GO DAWGS!
