With the Georgia men’s basketball team completing its home schedule with Wednesday’s 66-45 beat down of Mississippi State, I feel it is time for a little reflection. Since we have a relative who works for the athletic department (Thanks Macie!), my brother and I had the opportunity to attend a number of games this season.
From an early season disappointment vs Georgia Tech (whom I’m convinced Georgia would take down if the two teams met today), to a rout of NCAA tournament hopeful Missouri, we made it out to more games than I’ve ever witnessed in person in one year. As the season went along, we saw the emergence of Kenny Gaines as a consistent scoring threat, Marcus Thornton’s continued improvement in the post, and the progression of the team as a whole from a group that went 6-6 non-conference, to one that had an outside shot at a postseason berth.
It was a very good year at home for the Dawgs, as Georgia went 14-2 at Stegeman Coliseum. Not bad for a team picked to finish near the bottom of the SEC. After the Bulldogs’ dramatic improvement over the course of the season, I expect big things in 2014-15.
In honor of the season which has nearly come to an end, I’ve included a link to some of my favorite photos from our time at Stegeman Coliseum. From action shots to special guests, there’s a little bit of everything. I hope you enjoy them!
