Georgia lands Lorenzo Carter!

USA TODAY Sports

Lorenzo Carter was among the top remaining recruits on everyone's board. An Atlanta football vagabond of sorts, Carter has killed it for everyone from Mays to Whitefield Academy to Norcross over the last 4 years. And after being pursued by Nick Saban, Will Muschamp, Rodney Garner, and pretty much everyone in the southeast over the last dozen or more months, he announced on National Signing Day that he wanted to play for Georgia.

So, what did Georgia just get? A 6'5, 240 pound or so DE/OLB target who has elite ability as an edge rusher is who. Think Jordan Jenkins among those currently on the roster. Carter could play as a rushing OLB in a 3-4, but it seems new DC Jeremy Pruitt is going with more of a 4 man front line look, and thus the explosive athlete likely looks to continue adding weight and power and plays full time with his hand in the dirt. The below clips are from him against North Gwinnett, home of arguably the nation's top 2015 OT recruit in Mitch Hyatt.

You can suspect what type of player we're getting when you look at that offer list. Carter is big, fast, and gets after a QB with reckless abandon. He has the ability to be a difference maker right away as a pass rusher, and perhaps win All-SEC or more as he matures. He'll play right away, though how much depends on him and his development as a player. But plain and simple, Georgia just kept one of the state's best at home, and helped keep their DL getting after their [donkeys] for the foreseeable future.
