2014 Georgia football recruit player profile: TB Sony Michel

He's a goal line stalker! - Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Georgia has gotten a lot of pretty well regarded recruits in Mark Richt's time. We landed a massive OL from Miami in Max Jean Gilles that was considered an NFL lock. We landed one of the most dynamic recruits in the country in AJ Green, and a guy Mel Kiper once called a future #1 overall pick when he was in high school with Matt Stafford. But Sony Michel just might be the highest regarded Mark Richt has landed as a head coach. We're talking about a guy who's been on the scene at a national level since the 8th grade...

Michel has elite speed, similar to Keith Marshall. But like Marshall, his high school clips show so much more. " target="new">His TDs as a freshman in high school would look good if we're talking about a senior tape. But the kid then missed his sophomore season to injury, before reemerging as the top RB in the state of Florida as a junior, and committing to Georgia way back last April. A south Florida kid, at a position of need for a school that routinely puts elite talent in the NFL at TB? He seemed a Miami lock on paper, but the kid chose the G and hasn't faltered in that commitment since. He went on to lead his insanely talented team to a state title (they include late offer WR/KR Isaiah McKenzie, as well as top 2015 target QB/ATH Torrance Gibson).

There really is nothing to say about this player. Think of every superlative you can about a TB, and he meets it. Speed? Check. Balance? Check. Vision? Check. Power? Check. Ability to break tackles? Check. Between the tackles? Check. On the edge? Check. Hands? Check. He may or may not be a good blocker. High school players rarely are asked to do that, but considering his offense, the talent around him, and their ability to share the ball, it's pretty safe to say he can check that box off too. With Todd Gurley leading the way, Keith Marshall, JJ Green, and Brendan Douglas backing him up, you'd think Georgia was good at RB. But Nick Chubb is ready to go, and Michel may be even better. It's an embarrassment of riches in the Bulldawg backfield come 2014, and we just get to enjoy the show. And what a show Michel can put on...

Yes, that's Bryan McClendon giving him a fist bump at the end. How McClendon plans on getting this kid the ball, we'll all just have to wait and see. But rest assured when he gets his touches, we're in for a treat. #TBUisback! Now let's RTDB.
