Georgia travels to South Carolina on Saturday for what is shaping up to be a crucial matchup. The Bulldogs currently third in the SEC standings with an 8-5 record but are only one game ahead of four teams who are tied for fourth. The top four teams will receive a double bye in the SEC Tournament.
While Georgia is certainly in the driver's seat they don't have a particularly easy road with their remaining schedule. Three of the five games remaining are on the road including Saturday's game against South Carolina.
The Bulldogs crushed the Gamecocks in the previous meeting 97-76. However, South Carolina has put together a good stretch recently with wins over Vanderbilt and Alabama and a competitive loss to Arkansas. Given the way Georgia looked at Tennessee, they can't afford to approach anything as a given.
If the Bulldogs are going to win on Saturday they are going to need a bounce back performance from Charles Mann who was a non-factor against the Volunteers. Mann finished with just five points against Tennessee while going 2-6 from the field. He had 10 points and three assists in 19 minutes during the earlier win over the Gamecocks.
Sindarius Thornwell led South Carolina with 26 points in the first meeting. He was held to just eight on 2-12 shooting in Wednesday's loss at Arkansas.
