It has come to my attention that Arthur Lynch is receiving threats. The details are still forthcoming, but apparently it was via twitter. Just as I wrote about the egging of Aaron Murray's house after losing to SC last year, I now am writing to address this absolutely pathetic, embarrassing and shameful act.
I have no idea who all the threatening participants are, but I will tell you they all need a serious come to Jesus. I can live with screwing up a test, or maybe being late to a team meeting, or those type of things, but I can not stand any player being threatened on or off field, and specifically for on field performance. Lynch had a good day, and if not for the UGA offense being incredibly stagnant, we wouldn't have needed the last second score to win. It was a total team failure, and singling out one player is pathetic, sad, and so utterly selfish.
We under-performed and looked bad with such a lack of energy and enthusiasm today, only to be backed up with threats to players. How does that help? Can we time travel? I have a lot of problems with the team and game today, but I still respect the work and effort all student athletes put forth. It's football, we love it, we live it, but it is still a game, and not world ending.
This is unacceptable Bulldog Nation. For all of us. I hope those who know set the participants of these threats straight in no uncertain terms. As I understand it, the teammates backed Lynch and said something along the lines of "never show your face in Athens again." Sounds good to me. We don't need Harvey Updike types in Athens or around our University or team.
