Cocktail Thursday: Nobody Edition.

Daniel Shirey-USA TODAY Sports

Your Georgia Bulldogs are playing their fearsome rival . . .um . . .nevermind. Still, let's have a drink.

What a difference a week makes. Remember last week this time when everyone thought that the Bulldogs' upcoming evisceration at the hands of the South Carolina Gamecocks was a fait accompli?

Now the mean machine in red and black cruise into the first off week of the season with a game lead on the Palmetto State Poultry in the SEC East, having watched a Florida team that looks no better on offense than it did last year lose to Miami. Now it's time to get rested, get healthy, and get ready for the North Texas Mean Green. And the team that comes after them, who we'll worry about shortly.

Off weeks always bring forth a certain bittersweet feeling for me. Sure there's the realization that the Red and Black won't hit the field, and that's a little disappointing. But at the same time, it frees me to watch college football with a roving eye, taking in the broad sweep of the thing without being too worried about what's going on in Athens or the logistics of getting there. Or worried about how we'll play on the road. In other words, off weeks are a lot less stressful for a team-focused college football blogger. And that goes double for off weeks coming off a big win.

But ti's all tinged with a little sadness. So this weekend while you're thinking about how nice it would be to be cheering on the Bulldogs and dealing with the slight touch of melancholy associated with that, I recommend you enjoy a Saturday Sung Blue. You'll need:

2 oz. blueberry vodka (Absolut makes one that has blueberry and acai flavors, though the name escapes me)

2 oz. lemonade (fresh squeezed or off the shelf, totally your choice)

2 oz. moscato (sweet, slightly sparkling white wine).

a handful of fresh blueberries and a dash of sugar

Start by muddling the blueberries and sugar in a glass. Separately, mix the remaining ingredients in a cocktail shaker over ice, and strain into the glass with the muddled blueberries. Stir and serve.

Tonight, it's time to kick back with a drink and watch some Thursday night football. There's TCU at Texas Tech on ESPN, Troy at Arkansas State on ESPNU, and Tulane at Louisiana Tech on Fox Sports 1. This is the place for you to comment on all the action with all your Dawg Sportin' friends. Until later . . .
