Georgia 45, Appalachian State 6: Because There Ain't No Pictures On The Scorecard.

Scott Cunningham

Mark Richt's Georgia Bulldogs pulled away in the second half for a victory which will look way more impressive on Sports Center than it did in person.

If ever there was a game that proved that not all blowouts are created equal it was Georgia's drubbing of the Appalachian State Mountaineers this afternoon in beautiful Athens.

On the bright side Aaron Murray threw two touchdown passes, one each to Rantavious Wooten and Michael Bennett, to set the SEC career touchdown record. #11 finished a respectable 19 of 26 for 281 yards. There was one poor interception thrown to a trailing middle linebacker, but all in all not a bad effort.

Hutson Mason came in for relief duty and posted solid numbers (11 of 16 for 160 yards, a touchdown pass to Kenneth Towns and an interception to balance things out). Together the UGA signal callers churned out 441 passing yards to go with a relatively pedestrian 120 rushing yards (Todd Gurley led the way with 75). Again looking on the bright side, both J.J. Green and Brendan Douglas got into the endzone. Also, henceforth I believe all Michael Erdman fans should be referred to as "Erdman-iacs." Just a humble suggestion unleashed on the universe.

The defense created a couple of helpful turnovers, those the game was largely in hand by the time that happened. The Mountaineers were held to a measly 35 yards rushing, and only 221 through the air, at least half of which felt like they came on the boys from Boone's first two offensive series.

The 'Dawgs will now travel to the Loveliest Little Village Ever Seen By People Who've Never Been To Hahira For Comparison to take on an Auburn Tiger squad that easily handled Tennessee in Knoxville, 55-23. I have some serious concerns about that game, but now's not the time for those. Now's the time to celebrate the Red and Black moving to 6-3 on the year. Until later  . . .

Go 'Dawgs!!!
