Another edition of your weekly NCAA 14 previews is here. UGA is 4-2 (3-1) on the season, after beating Mizzou in 3 OTs, 42-34. Now it's Vandy's time for some hurtin'.
Due to a strenuous school week, I won't be doing a drive-by-drive breakdown. Rather, a short summary will do. Simply put, UGA had the ball for most of the 1st half. UGA lost the coin toss, and received to start the game. Brendan Douglas and JJ Green did very good work the entire game. UGA scored on its first drive, taking up 7 minutes, with a 2-yard run from Brendan Douglas with 3:09 left, to make it 7-0 UGA.
Vandy immediately responded in a quick drive that was capped off by a 26-yard pass to Chris Boyd from Patrick Robinette, to make it 7-7 Vandy.
The 2nd quarter belonged to Georgia, as a 23-yard FG from Captain Morgan and a 1-yard touchdown push from Quayvon Hicks at the last second in the first half capped off a 10-point quarter, with no adversity seen from the 'Dores. The score was 17-7 UGA at halftime.
The third quarter was uneventful, with just a 49-yard FG from Captain Morgan, making it 20-7 UGA by the end of the 3rd quarter.
The 4th quarter was a wild one. Vandy started off with a 20-yard pass to Wesley Tate from Robinette with 8:01 in the 4th, to make it 20-14 Dawgs. UGA responded with a 4-minute drive that ended in a 23-yard touchdown pass to Arthur Lynch, and a 2-point conversion was successful, as Murray threw a slant-route pass to Reggie Davis, making it 28-14 Dawgs with 4:40 left in the game.
Vandy yet again responded with a quick drive, that ended in a 2-yard toudhdown pass to Chris Boyd, to make it 28-21 Dawgs with 2:16 left in the game. UGA was on the verge of stalling a much-needed touchdown drive, when J.J. Green pulled off a 55-yard run for a touchdown, making it 35-21 Dawgs with just 1:47 left in the game. Vandy immediately dug themselves in a hole after a few sacks, and a huge pass play fell just short of the first down on 4th & 27, turning the ball over and giving the Dawgs a win.
