After a nerve-wracking first-half battle, the Georgia Bulldogs stepped up after intermission to deliver Mark Richt his 108th career victory as the head coach of the Red and Black, advancing the Mark Richt Victory Watch and moving the Athenians’ skipper to within 93 triumphs of tying the school record for wins.
Coach Richt’s 108-38 record and .740 winning percentage place him in the front rank of long-tenured Georgia coaches. The only two of his predecessors to have lasted as long both had .688 winning percentages 146 games into their careers. At the identical juncture, Wally Butts was 97-42-7 and Vince Dooley was 98-43-5.
