Kevin Jairaj-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Ohio State at Michigan State AND Wisconsin at Nebraska??? Damn, ABC! You really know how to get my blood pumping!

So we finally get into the meat of the schedule. There are fewer games against teams like FAU, UAB, ULM, and LMNOP and more conference drama... much much more. And, as far as I'm concerned, its about damn time.

Things start off with a West Coast bang on Thursday as the Stanford Cardinal take on the Washington Huskies in what could be an interesting early Pac12 conference matchup. Then on Friday we get the Mormon Bowl as the Hawaii Warriors coached by Norm Chow face off against the BYU Cougars.

In Saturday's early block, the ESPN family of networks are once again hellbent on shoving the Big Whatever and ACC down our throats with thrilling contests such as the Minnesota Golden Gophers at the Iowa Hawkeyes, the Penn St. Nittany Lions at the Illinois Fighting Illini, and the N.C. State Wolfpack at the Miami Hurricanes. If you aren't interested in those game (but honestly, how could you not be?), you can always watch the showdown between the Texas A&M Aggies and the Arkansas Razorbacks... although that matchup has obviously lost a bit of its lustre.

At 3:30, I could implore you to check out what is sure to be a sleep-inducing contest between the Ohio St. Buckeyes and the Michigan St. Spartans, but I think we all know your butts will be glued to CBS as Precious brings his Tennessee Volunteers to Athens to face off against our beloved Georgia Bulldogs.

The 7:00/8:00 hour has a couple of potential matchups of interest as the South Carolina Gamecocks take it to the Kentucky Wildcats and the Florida St. Seminoles beat up on the South Florida Bulls. Or, if you really want some "old man football" you can check out the Wisconsin Badgers and the Nebraska Cornhuskers (not really a slight BTW... we like Old Man Football in these parts).

At 9:15, tune in to watch the Alabama Crimson Tide welcome Coach Freeze to the SEC and then switch over at 10:30 to see the Oregon Ducks show Mike Leach what a high scoring offense actually looks like.

All in all a pretty great weekend.
