Several of you have submitted lovely expressions of haiku hatred; after my last ri-ku posting on Friday, I will gather them all together and we can vote on the best one the old-fashioned way in the comments. This will be my last day of posting only two ri-kus since tomorrow and Friday will feature three hate-filled ri-kus to get us all in the spirit of the season.
Today's featured teams are rarely liked outside of their own fanbases, often claim more than they are entitled to, and are often seen as receiving preferential treatment from various corners of the college football world. At least Alabama has the virtue of being really good recently (yes, Bama does have at least one virtue; who says you can't learn anything on the Internet?), and Notre Dame...well, they're back. Again. No, seriously. This is their year. They promise.
I had written an Alabama ri-ku already, but I didn't like it, so I rewrote it. I figured that since the ri-ku in question was representing Bama, that receiving a second chance was not only acceptable, but also my due. So enjoy these ri-kus, submit ones of your own, and enjoy the accompanying photo (altered by me, of course, in order to preserve their "fair use" status).
Signing at Bama
can leave a blue-chip recruit
in a grey area.
To lose in Dublin
would totally be troublin',
but we're Notre Dame.
My artistic rendering of Notre Dame's alternative uniforms really brings them to life. Yes, I know that they have a weird little Fighting Irish guy on the purple side; no, I am not capable of drawing that.
