This is my first attempt at using fan post so bear with me if the formatting isn't the best. As we approach the football season, two weeks until the JV starts play on Thursday night and 16 days before (probably 15 by the time I am done posting) I wanted to post my predictions for the 2012 season and see what other Dawg fans see happening this season.
My number 1 prediction is that Jarvis Jones will have a slight drop in his sack numbers but the team will increase theirs. There are two reasons for this. Number one I see the offense closing out games earlier than last year so Mr. Jones will be standing on the sidelines for a lot of 4th quarters and parts of several 3rd quarters. Second I think teams will spend so much time game planning to slow down Mr. Jones that others like Washington, Drew, Wilson and company will have a field day on the opposite side.
Prediction: Mr. Jones 10.5 (-3 from last year) Team 42 (+7 from last year).
Second I believe that Gurley and Malcome will be the work horses for the running game, that Marshall will provide the highlights and that Samuel has a so so year but again shines biggest against UF to finish that game off again.
Prediction: Gurley 180 for 900. Malcome 140 for 630. Marshall 100 for 600. Samuel 60 for 240. Murray 80 for 160. Team 620 for 2800.
Hicks will contribute to the running game in a huge way with 12 carries. Yes those 12 carries will be for a huge 30 yards. Why are they huge? They will get 6 first downs and 4 td's giving us a punch at fullback in short yardage plays that we have not had in a few years.
Murray's numbers will drop, in a good way. He won't match his passing Td's as the running game will pick up their Td total but he also won't match his int's from last season making him more productive overall. 31 Td's 8 int's.
Wins. I truly believe we win more games than last year. The question is how many more? That I won't predict until I see the game against Missouri. So what do you think and do you have any predictions you'd like to add?
