2012 Reasons to be Optimistic - sort of

I pretty much introduced myself to DAWGSports a year ago when I penned a very un-welcomed piece on 10 reasons to be optimistic about the 2011 season. That was published well before I knew that most of the staff and contributors on here made Larry Munson look like the world’s biggest optimist. I have to admit that some of the pessimistic opinions here have affected me and I do not have such a rosy outlook on the Dawgs for the 2012 season. Last year some of my nuggets of optimism included:

Schedule (easiest in the SEC East and UGA still lost to the 4 toughest teams they faced).

Tight Ends (not all doom and gloom last year, but Bobo stopped using them and he graduated)

Pass Blocking (UGA ranked 97th in the nation in sacks allowed)

Strength and Conditioning (we still got our keesters handed to us in the 4th quarter)

Running Backs (we know how that fared last season and beyond)

Discipline (that has flown out the window. We are 6th in the Fulmer Cup race this year)

So seeing how 60% of my reasons to be optimistic led to gloom and despair I will not be continuing the annual 10 reasons to be optimistic. Frankly as I thought about it for this season I was struggling to come up with 10 reasons for this season. That was after using Mike Adams’ last season, being able to type “FireMikeBobo” 1000 times in live game threads and the dwindling scholarship numbers would save money that could be used to renovate Foley. So to paraphrase Lewis Grizzard, Optimism Is Dead And I Don't Feel So Good Myself.
