Dawgs Went Not Gentle

I should probably sit on this for a few more days so I could polish it and round out some of the rough edges, but I don't really feel like doing so. No, I'm just going to throw this thing up in the hope that it works and, if it doesn't, feel free to scold me for not spiking. Last time DtD wrote a piece with a title beginning with "Your Move," we got embarrassed in the Dome and I wrote the piece that launched me here. DtD wrote another such piece last week, but I feel differently about this loss than I did that one last year. No, our hot rod wasn't perfect, but it still ran a helluva race, didn't it? The kind of race that would make Les Miles dance and made me feel both dead and alive all at once. I could ramble on and on about the cheaty McCheating cheatery corrupt incompetent officials, our inability to stop the run, and whether we should've spiked the ball at the end, but I'll just post this now with apologies to Dylan Thomas:

Dawgs went not gentle, much to Tide's great shock.
Bulldogs' fire burned and raved at close of day,
raged, raged against the dying of the clock.

Though many talking heads to Tide did flock,
a change of words were needed ‘cause knew they
Dawgs went not gentle, much to football's shock.

Good men, all Damned Good Dawgs, their pain unblocked,
who knew they might have danced in Atlantic spray
raged, raged against the dying of the clock.

The man who caught the fatefully-tipped rock
and learned, too late, to let it fall away
wrongly blamed himself for loss in shock.

Grown men, dreams crushed, all took gut-wrenching stock
as they lived and died on single play; they
raged, raged against the dying of the clock.

And we, my Dawg fans, cursed with calls of crock,
must cheer our guys for their outstanding play.
Dawgs went not gentle, much to nation's shock;
we raged, raged against the dying of the clock.

Most of y'all have probably seen this video of the Dawgs arriving back in Athens, but if you haven't, it's definitely worth a look.
