Poemhunter's description of Alfred, Lord Tennyson's poem, "Break, Break, Break," says that its "insistent beat...emphasizes the relentless sadness of the subject matter." If there's one thing at which Jarvis Jones excels, it's causing relentless sadness for the opposition via insistent beating. Auburn offensive lineman Chad Slade is right, to an extent, in that it is not hard to stop Jarvis Jones; in fact, all you have to do is take your beating like a good boy and in 60 minutes, it will all be over. With apologies to Alfred, Lord Tennyson:
Break, break, break
all those Tiger bones, O Jones!
And I hope Tiger tongues will utter
numerous agonized moans.
Three cheers for the defense's man
that he big, grown man's football does play!
Three cheers for the Georgia boy
that num'rous ball carriers does slay.
In the rivalry ballgame
in the arena on the Plains,
he will with his hits thin the sidelines out
and will leave ailing Tigers in pain.
Break, break, break
Auburn's chance of a win, O Jones!
The tender embrace of a tackle in space
will often leave Tigers prone.
Posted because...do I really need a reason?
