Stay connected for news and updates

This week it's UGA vs. Alabama for the SEC Championship, and the game could easily come down to the passing performance of the quarterbacks. This post is for comparing the two field generals of both teams. A closer look reveals a tight contest between the two. From cfbstats.com. All rankings are out of 100 qualified players.

Overall, Murray is better than McCarron in all but 2 of the categories listed above. Plus, Murray has a beautiful list of accomplishments to add:

-- 1st SEC QB with at least 3,000 passing yards in 3 consecutive seasons.

-- T-2nd with Peyton Manning in total TD passes with 89. And he's only a junior.

-- Top QB rating in the FBS.

-- Most TD passes by any UGA QB.

Murray looks favorable so far, however when we look at each player's performance against ranked teams (AP), the tide changes (no pun intended):

-- Aaron Murray: 2 games // 41.8 Completion % // 259 yards // 4.7 yards per attempt // 1 TD // 4 INT // 72.83 rating // 129.5 yards per game

-- AJ McCarron: 3 games // 56.1 Completion % // 673 yards // 8.2 yards per attempt // 4 TD // 2 INT // 136.26 rating // 224.3 yards per game

So who do you think is better? Who will perform better in the SEC Championship game?
