One thing is for sure: Spurrier hates UGA. He goes out of his way to take media shots and digs at UGA. He went lights out in Athens in Georgia-Florida to hang half a hundred on UGA just because. His whole season in the last years has been built on beating UGA. He even went so far last year as to say the SEC championship should be retooled because of his loss to UGA. So, I decided I would look at the OBC’s lifetime record to see how he fared. Here you go:
Spurrier lifetime vs UGA all positions
1963-66 QB Florida 2-2
1978 QB Coach Florida 0-1
1979 QB Coach Georgia Tech 0-1
1990-2001 Head Coach Florida 11-1
2005-2012 Head Coach South Carolina – 4-4
Which gives us a Lifetime 17-9 with a real butt kicking in 90-2001.
It seems his hate can’t be soothed, going back to that 1966 loss that still burns him up. I have no take, just thought I would share my research. If I missed a game somewhere, I’ll edit. One loose take: Spurrier did well at Duke, amazingly at Florida and now very well at South Carolina. I don't think he "has Georgia's number" I think he's a pretty darn good coach regardless. He just brings hyper focus and attention to the Georgia game. And Coach Richt, whom played at Miami, coached at Florida State against Florida in the 90s, and now is the head coach at Georgia, should really get that by now.
