Sophomore Kentavios Caldwell-Pope will lead the Hoop Dawgs this year - Dale Zanine-US PRESSWIRE
Did you know there is a free game being played in Stegeman by the Men's Basketball team for free on Friday night at 7 p.m. that is free to attend against Young Harris and admission is free?
As you may have heard, Mark Fox and the men's basketball team takes on Young Harris Friday at 7, in Stegeman, for a free exhibition to open the 2012-13 season. Chuck has told you why this is important, and I've given a summary of the team.
So, you know what to expect from us, and Friday, you should expect a win. For a quick summary, Young Harris started their basketball program 3 years ago and are led by former Georgia interim head coach Pete Hermann. The Mountain Lions have some size, but started a small, 4 guard lineup in most games last year.
Located in the northeast Georgia mountains of Towns County, Young Harris is named for long time Athens resident, businessman, Clarke County judge and state representative, Young L.G. Harris. Alums include former state governor and US Senator Zell Miller, Waffle House founder Tom Forkner, musicians Trisha Yearwood and Ronnie Milsap, as well as actors Oliver Hardy and Amanda Bearse.
It should be a good warm up for the Hoops Dawgs, and again, it's FREE! So what else are you gonna be doing on a homecoming Friday night?
