The season-ending injury to Michael Bennett reported earlier in the day has been confirmed by Georgia Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt as a torn ACL:
University of Georgia redshirt sophomore wide receiver Michael Bennett of Alpharetta has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee according to UGA head coach Mark Richt.
Bennett suffered the injury toward the end of Tuesday's practice. He will undergo reconstructive surgery on a yet to be determined date and will miss the remainder of the season according to Director of Sports Medicine Ron Courson.
Fortunately, wide receiver is a position at which the 'Dawgs have quality depth, but our hearts go out to Bennett, a damn good 'Dawg who was well on his way to having a breakout year.
Go 'Dawgs!
