I realize that the Rebels don't travel to Athens for a few weeks but I'm bored and I'm really looking forward to the trip so I wanted to go ahead and post this here. This is my first Fan Post in the new website format, so I'll try not to screw it up. A group of my friends from Ole Miss and I make a point to go to a different away game every year and this year we're headed to Georgia. I've been looking forward to this one for a while, since Athens is the only SEC town that I really want to see. From what I've been told it's like a bigger Oxford, and I know from experience that your fans typically aren't terrible (read: Bama, Tennessee, LSU, State, Arky, so on and so forth).
We already have lodging covered, so my reason for posting is to get an idea of what to do/see in Athens. If y'all could throw out a few suggestions on bars and restaurants it'd be much appreciated. I wouldn't worry about fancy establishments, we won't be making reservations or anything. But if there are any specific watering holes, eateries or anything else that you think would help round out a weekend in Athens, Jawja that would be great.
Finally, what's the tailgating situation? I mean as far as location and libations. Should we bring our own? And would that be beer or liquor if we did? I'm woefully ignorant of Georgia's tailgating traditions and customs, so I'd be glad to have any info or tips.
Can't wait for the game. I think (hope) we'll at least be competitive. Should be a badass time. Thanks, Hotty Toddy, and good luck until November 3rd.
