CBSSports and AJC report Chester Brown Decommits
Because of a "personal family reason," recruit Chester Brown will not sign with Georgia on Feb. 1, he said. The 2012 OL from Hinesville, Ga., is now considering Syracuse, UCF and Tulane, among others. "I told the coaches at Georgia that I still had love for UGA, but this is the decision I came upon," Brown said.

Of course, Carvell takes the jab...
Brown is the fifth commitment that UGA has lost in this recruiting class for one reason or another.
Said to be an immigration issue, and he might spend a year at a JUCO and transfer in.

Totally surprised.
Getting Marshall and Gurley, two JUCO linemen, etc. Who cares. A guy that obviously isnt ready for a big program decommits and it’s a crime. This is good news – I would much rather free up a slot for someone that lose his slot in a year when he can’t hack it. If he is considering Syracuse, then I don’t know what is going on.

Don't be quick to dump the kid
we wanted him, that is clear. It’s not like he’d be considering Syracuse if it weren’t for the family issues keeping him from Athens.

There is no hate. I would just rather a kid make a clear decision before hand rather than be distracted later.
So I consider it a win, and I am thankful to Brown for getting it out clearly and before signing day.

I would like to hear more on the reason
but respect his desire to keep it behind closed doors. I am thinking that it has to be more than just indecision on his part, the tattoo, hats, shirts and general comments made me think this was a solid “flock, smock and lock”. I am happy that he did de-commit if he cannot fully focus on being a student athlete; but it is a shame not to have his 6’5", 350 lb frame protecting Murray. Good luck to him wherever he ends up.
I HATE ORANGE, and DGNBs
I have to wonder what kind of family issue exists that prevents Athens but allows Syarcuse, NY; Orlando, FL; and Baton Rouge, LA.

That was kinda my point. If that is what is going on - it sounds like a possible minefield.

I can't believe I said Tulane was BR
Obviously I meant NOLA. Guh. Stupid mind fart.

An immigration issue that keeps him away from Georgia, but not schools in other states?
He does know we’re talking about Georgia the state, not the country, right?

It's strange vine, no doubt about that
I wonder if the details that are causing so many questions will come out after signing day.

The AJC article today clarifies this issue further:
To avoid stoking political issues, let me just say it has to do with Board of Regents’ admission policies vis a vis undocumented immigrants.
