Georgia's Torrin Lawrence Records Three Wins To Highlight Opener
LEXINGTON, Ky. --- Senior Torrin Lawrence won the 60-meter dash, 200 and was part of the winning 4x400 team at the season-opening Kentucky Invitational on Saturday.
The Bulldogs left Lexington, Ky., with six fresh top-10 marks in the school record books as Georgia got an early opportunity to compete at the site of the 2012 Southeastern Conference Indoor Championships.
In order to bring some good news, as well as show the diversity of UGA athletics, I thought this was due some attention. FWIW, during the early 80s of the Herschel years, we also had some good runners. They seem to be paired up.

I was drinking a cold one and enjoying a few slices about 1980 at Sons of Italy in 5-points. Mel Lattany was running a meet down the street, broke some kind of 100m record, then broke the sound barrier and then my beer mug shattered. Dude was fast.

because I was always at The Fifth Quarter.

I remember asking the same question when the kid was a freshman...
…and reading in articles that he no interest. Also seems like in videos from his freshman year that he took a bit to build up to his top speed, but when he did, he blew the doors off everyone else. Of course, if he’s winning the 60 meter now…

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, TT.
I’ve never watched track and field closely, but it seems like we’ve always excelled in throwing heavy objects and only occasionally had outstanding runners and jumpers. Lawrence is a very special athlete.
