One way to become a Tebow fan......
I know life is more than college football. I like to think that Tim Tebow is a professional. Still, I am torn when it comes to rooting for the Denver Broncos now. There have been some great former Bulldogs go to that team with some outstanding success. With Tebow at the helm I would really like to see if he can be instrumental in helping Moreno become more successful next season. It pains me to see Moreno struggle with injury and a lack of acceptance out there.

You lost me at "Tebow fan"...
… but you got me back at “Knowshon Moreno” and “Champ Bailey.”
(Yes, I know you didn’t say Champ Bailey. Work with me here…)

Hmmmmmm.
Tim Tebow is NOT an American hero. Anyone who has or does serve honoably in the US military is. I hope that is enough said.

It will be interesting to see where Tebow is in a couple of years
Based on his style of play, I doubt it very much if he is on any kind of roster in the NFL. Perhaps his talents are best served in the Arena Football League or the Canadian Football League.

Now that Tebow has moved on
I’ve basically quit caring. He’ll be out of the league in a few years and in a few years beyond this, it’ll all be a footnote. I think he’s a good person, is devout in his faith and I cannot fault anyone for this and wish him well. As a college quarterback, he was great. As a pro, he’s just been lucky.
Denver has had many great Bulldogs over the years: Bucky Dilts (punter of the ‘76 SEC Championship team), Clarence Kay (TE), Terrell Davis, Champ (and Boss for a season) along with Knowshon are just a few off the top of my head. But to me, football ends when the Dawgs leave the field for the final time when their bowl game concludes. That’s just me, although I did watch the 2nd half of the Saints-49ers. That was pretty wild.

As I've always said, I have no particular problem with Tim Tebow.
I have a problem with the media adulation of Tim Tebow. I have a problem with the officials’ double standard regarding Tim Tebow. I have a problem with the way it has become compulsory to refer to Tim Tebow as “Tim Tebow.”
Tebow is, by all accounts, a good man. I just can’t stand all the Gator love, particularly during a season in which we’ve had to hear all about Cam Newton, too. Newton played great, but his team stunk; Tebow played lousy for 55 minutes, but his team won; we had to hear about ’em both. Meanwhile, Matthew Stafford had a pretty good year, and . . . nothing.

Matt isn’t a rookie so he isn’t a story.

Matt also doesn't have
the religious right buying ad-time during a playoff game and pursuing their own agendas through him. That’s a powerful lobby.

Indeed
Cam Newton should have been a story. He broke stat records in good ways as opposed to bad ways Even if he didn’t win a lot he still made the plays as a rookie. I guess it is more interesting than what our guys are doing after college for a couple years. You think its bad about Tebone. Be a Falcons Fan and live in southeast GA. I get Jaguars in my eyes all of the time. I have to go online to find out Falcons news since the local newspaper has become a shill for Jacksonville football. I like Matt. I wish he was still here.

So should have TJ Yates
I mean the guy was the third string QB and had no prospect of seeing the field any time, yet here he was leading (or, at least in the same sense that Tebow was “leading” the Bronco’s by simply being their quarterback) the Texans to their first ever playoff appearance and easily winning their first game.
Tebow always reminds me of that one episode of South Park
where Stan’s dad breaks the record for the world’s largest BM(hang with me, this is going somewhere), only to have Bono break it shortly afterwards. Later we find out that Bono himself actually is the largest BM, which of course explains how a person who does so many good things can also be such a huge piece of s***. This is Tim Tebow. I know he does a lot of good things and helps a lot of people, but he is also part of an evangelist cult that doesn’t believe that Catholics are real Christians and takes advantage of people in Phillipines. He claims Christian humility, but taunts on and off the field, rarely deflects praise or responsibility onto his teammates or coaches, and takes every advantage to use his religion to draw attention to himself. He embraces all the media attention and does little or nothing to discourage or avoid it.
Basically, even though he does a lot of really great things, I still think he’s a huge piece of s***.

This is laughable
Watch the presser after the biggest win and moment of his pro career. He thanks the Steelers, Jesus, his teammates, Jesus, a sick girl, his coaches and Jesus. He says teammates about 100 times.
It’s fine if you don’t like the guy – but taunting off the field?
Rarely deflects praise or responsibility onto his teammates or coaches?
His WR corps is one of the worst in the NFL, yet all he does is praise them and say they make him look better than he is.
His presser after getting slaughtered by the Partriots again has non-stop thanks for Jesus, his teammates, coaches and a sick kid.
He has never stated that he doesn’t like the attention, nor has he ever shied away from it – he has continuously stated that he feels blessed that he has been given a platform to praise Jesus and spread the word.
In all kinds of weather...
This.
I think Tebow gets way too much hype (and I thought his gator chomps were excessive in college), but the guy doesn’t hog the spotlight. He talks a lot about practise, about getting better, and gives lots of thanks to other people. He seems to go out of his way to talk about others even when interviewers push for him to talk about himself.
Football aside, all evidence is that he is a truly exemplary young man: generous, affable, and radically concerned with the welfare of others. He loves the game of football but doesn’t pretend than it is anything more than a game. I’m never sad to see Tim Tebow lose a game, but I have tremendous respect for the man.

I have to agree with skigator93 and first and thom.
It’s the media’s fault that we hate Tim Tebow. He seems to be generally a good kid in heart and deed. In fact, this is the only picture I could really find of him doing anything objectionable at all:
And I just blame the natural corruption that infects all Gators for that.

Davis was on the team
When I was in school, as well as the Bailey’s. And Dave, I feel better knowing I’m not the only one with similar perspective as yours though mine is not quite that hard lined. I certainly respect that.
On the other perspective, if I were Moreno and I were in the locker room, it would be awkward having Tim as a teammate. I wonder if professionalism would take over.
I doubt if it's an issue.
William Perry and Kevin Butler were taken by the Chicago Bears during the same draft, at the height of the Georgia-Clemson rivalry. They had an annual bet with one another on that year’s Georgia-Clemson game, but they were teammates in Chicago. I suspect that’s how it is for Moreno and Tebow: good-natured ribbing, but not outright animosity.

Champ Bailey has probably been more outspoken than any other Bronco with his support of Tebow.

re: Knowshon
Wouldn’t be surprised at all if he’s on a different roster next year. He has shown flashes when healthy, but has really been unable to stay off the training table in Denver.
Thanks y'all,
Hey, I appreciate the conversation. Admittedly, I was searching for some validation to my tendency to enjoy the evaluation of Tim’s ability. Most sprouts media I read and listen to continue to tear him apart as being the worst QB prospect in the league but also a great person. Anywho, thanks for the affirmation.
I also would not be surprised to see Moreno go somewhere else. I always have had a soft spot for the kid, being from NJ and working his tail off while at UGA. Good luck to him.
