It seems inevitable that we are moving toward 16 team "Super Conferences" with Texas A&M becoming the SEC's 13th team and Oklahoma moving to the Pac-12 (with little brother OK State). I don't see any scenario in which the SEC doesn't go to 16 teams especially if the Pac-12 looks like they will become the Pac-16. That being said, here is my proposal for dividing up the "New SEC" into 4 divisions with division winners playing a semi-final to get to the SEC Championship Game.
Division A-LSU, TAMU, ARK, MIZZOU
Division B-Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Miss St
Division C-Clemson, Florida St, Tennessee, Kentucky
Division D-Georgia, Florida, SC, Vandy
Each division would play another division on a yearly rotating basis with one permanent opponent from the opposite divisions (i.e. for UGA it would be one permanent from A and one from B) to preserve traditional rivalries. Each team plays 9 conference games. An example of UGA's schedule
Game 1-Cupcake U
Game 2-vs SC
Game 3-@ Clemson
Game 4-vs Vandy
Game 5-@ UT
Game 6-vs Kentucky
Game 7-@ UF
Game 8-vs Auburn
Game 9-@ FSU
Game 10-vsCupcake U
Game 11-@ LSU
Game 12-vs Tech
I am sure there are some holes in this that don't keep everyone happy. What are your thoughts on this type of a set up? (NOTE: I used Missouri, Clemson and FSU for comparison purposes)
