UGA's Bacarri Rambo "possibly" suspended for the first game.
I didn't plan for my roll to be the continual bearer of bad news, but it seems once again my late night internet surfing, pushed by a fanpost from midgeorgiadawg has had me digging around tonight. Recently First and Thom wrote a post on "where is Rambo?" and built a theory perhaps Bacarri Rambo was potentially being looked at for future other duties to include a quarterback package. We have noticed the fight in the secondary has been more more aggressive and Rambo's starting slot was at risk as he has been moved to the second team.
It is now looking more like Rambo had some other problems going on. The details are thin and Coach Mark Richt hasn't had much to say. From WSB:
When asked about the suspension after practice Monday, head coach Mark Richt said, "No, I'm not going to address that. At the appropriate time if anybody has anything like that. I'll let you know, though." When asked when the the appropriate time would be, Richt told reporters, "I don’t know. I’ve got to figure that out. Still working on that."
I am going to go out on a limb here and suspect there is an academic issue or perhaps a failure to make mandatory meetings or practices issue. What we do know is word on Rambo this summer has been quiet and something obviously was going on

PURE SPECULATION
and a major abuse of rumor mongering. I have followed these rumors and feel CMR is just using the fans to speculate the suspension to make BSu overlook his total use on Offense and Defense in a manner to make the feel safe
I HATE ORANGE
Well, something is gonig on, and it would be pretty rare to "fake out" an opponent by saying a Safety isnt starting.

I apologize for my lack of links. I tried, it's late, and this editor hates me.

Respectfully, it's not rumor mongering
A few folks have cited sources saying he’s definitely suspended. A few others have said nothing’s in stone…yet.
However, everyone agrees this isn’t the norm. Something’s up. That’s confirmed.
"60% of the time, it works every time."
yeah, it's not really rumor mongering
but, it’s kind of a misleading headline. We don’t know that he’s suspended and if you have read legitimate sources (which I’m sure tankertoad has) it would probably be a good idea to link them. I know this is a free blog and should not be used as an absolute source for anything. But on the safe side, a link would be good or a question mark at the end of the headline. I think UGA’s Bacarri Rambo suspended for the first game? is more accurate.

Nothing is confirmed.
The lack of knowledge about the situation is the source of the suspicion.

It's Bacarri. I fixed it.
In tankertoad’s defense, it was late, and he was having trouble with the story editor.
Go 'Dawgs!
Thanks, I also had some bad cutting and pasting going on.

Pretty deceiving headline
Nobody knows if he’s actually suspended. If he’s suspended, then it’s awfully peculiar that he’s been getting all the reps at 1st or 2nd string during camp. He may be suspended, or me may be having to sit a half or something like that. Like I said, nobody really knows. I have to take issue with the way you titled this. Y’all don’t go for the sensationalist headlines devised to grab hits around here, or at least not in the past. Wouldn’t like to see that change.
From Seth Emerson:
But Rambo has been demoted to second team and was not participating in the early portion of drills in Monday’s practice. Richt already said that Shawn Williams and Sanders Commings would be the first-team safeties.

Headline changed slightly -
but some sources are using the word suspended. Keep in mind CMR didnt say he “wasn’t” suspended either. So again, something is up. When writers point blank ask a coach if a player is suspended or not, and the answer is a dodge, that isn’t a good thing. Which is why I think there is a team or academic issue and they are looking into it.
My headline is similar to several other sources saying suspension. It was never intended to be “sensationalist” for the sake of being sensationalist.

much better
Such a little thing makes a big difference.

My take: Rambo is not suspended, but not starting either.
My $.02: if Rambo were “suspended” for the entire game, then he would not appear on the depth chart at all. See Thomas, C. If this were the case, I believe CMR would have announced it earlier (being the first of this week as “the appropriate time”). My take is he is either “suspended” for a quarter, a half, or just was disciplined as “not starting.” I think the most-likely situation is that Rambo is simply not starting for some disciplinary reason. Thus, creating the issue for CMR of when and how to announce that. In summary, if he was not available for the game, he would not be on the newly-released depth chart.

that's an interesting take

One exception, though...
Ray Drew doesn’t appear on the depth chart right now either, but Richt just said in his press conference that Drew is going to play Saturday night. Who knows what’s going on?

It's Rennie Curren at Bowl all over again...
Arnold is right IMHO. Rambo out for part of game but not whole game.
