Southbound and Down

I am southbound and down, headed to the Sunshine State on vacation with my family. Before anyone asks, no, I will not be joining Akeem Dent in a session of planking the Sarasota Police while we’re at the beach; I’m not anxious to earn Fulmer Cup points for the Georgia Bulldogs.

My thanks go out to those of you who responded to my call for guest posters; I have written privately to everyone who left a comment in the thread, and, if all goes according to plan, those generous contributors will take up the slack in my absence between Tuesday, July 5, and Friday, July 8. (One of those guest posters is RedCrake, by the way, so he needs to check his e-mail!)

While I do not intend to be altogether incommunicado while I am away, neither do I plan on tying myself down to a specific schedule, so my posting will be somewhat sporadic over the course of the next week or so. Accordingly, you should consider this "open mic" week at Dawg Sports!

Even if you didn’t sign up to participate, you are welcome and encouraged to take part. MaconDawg will be on duty, as always, and he and I will be even more inclined than usual to promote deserving fanposts and fanshots to the main page. For instance, no one asked tankertoad to post his bold comment thread; he did it on his own initiative, and it got bumped to the front page.

This is your opportunity, and you should not be dissuaded in the slightest just because you didn’t formally volunteer and get assigned a day. If you have a great fanpost idea, this is your chance. Grab a Nestea and be bold!
