Tuesday Night Dawg Bites: John Isner Wins at Wimbledon, Mark Fox's Recruiting Lags for Georgia Bulldogs
I was away from the computer all day today, and I likely will be away from the computer all day tomorrow, so I’ve been trying to get caught up, and it occurred to me after promoting a fanshot, posting a fanshot, and making several comments that I really ought to sum up the day’s events in a single centralized location, at which point I figured, hey, this space was as good as any other; ergo, here goes:
- Though the sequel failed to live up to the original, the result was gratifying, as John Isner won, 7-6(4), 6-2, 7-6(6), over Nicolas Mahut in straight sets. The towering former Georgia netter advances to face No. 16 Nicolas Almagro in the second round. Here’s hoping Big John takes out two Nicolases---or is that Nicolai?---in a row.
- The third round of the SB Nation Conference Re-Draft is complete, with the league led by BC Interruption having taken the Georgia Bulldogs, Texas Longhorns, and UCLA Bruins, the rationale for which has not escaped the most astute observers.
- In the wake of Jordan Adams’s selection of UCLA over Georgia, Mr. Sanchez is concerned that Mark Fox is whiffing on the recruiting trail. Although I’m a huge fan of Coach Fox, I must say, as someone who thought this was Coach Fox’s moment and believed Kevin Ware’s decision would say a lot about the state of the program, I have to agree with Mr. Sanchez.
- Finally, as I noted yesterday, the Maple Street Press 2011 Georgia Bulldogs annual is available for pre-order. Here, in case you’re curious, is what the cover looks like:
