Happy Father's Day . . . and Then Some!

PrintToday, of course, is Father's Day, so I send my best wishes to all of you who are fathers, or who have fathers, which, if I understand the basics of human biology correctly, all of you do.
In addition to being Father's Day, though, today also is David Pollack's birthday, so we get a double dose of celebration. Today, we salute fatherhood and the Georgia Bulldogs' second three-time football All-American. It's almost too bad it's a Sunday, because that's the kind of thing for which you'd want to take a day off work.

Is it Father's Day or Fathers' Day?
I would normally label it Fathers’ Day with the plural possessive apostrophe, since it’s a day set aside to honor all fathers. I can see how it could also be the singular possessive “Father’s Day,” however, since everyone is honoring their own father individually on that day.
Either way, though, here’s a picture of DGD and All-American Drew Butler with his DGD, All-American father.
There have been many father/son tandems who have played for the Dawgs throughout the years, but I believe this is the only one currently on the team.

Though his father passed away after battling ALS, Watts Dantzler and his father Danny are just such a tandem. Danny Dantzler played on the O-line in the early 70’s.
